I like it & I haven’t even read it yet!

Ohhh, but I WILL read it over the next couple of days. The Silver Ships and the Pyreans series are THE most entertaining forms of media I have experienced. There are a few tv series and movies that are not far behind but overall, it’s S.H. Jucha’s imagination that has entertained me the most. I feel like a kid again listening to the audiobooks, you’know, that excitement of the story presently happening and the wonderment of what will happen next.

Since the first Silver Ships book, I have been heavily invested in the characters, and without any effort. Yes, there are “some” moments among the books where things were a little drawn’out or tedious but again, that’s “some” and they were not many. It is natural to experience that during such a long series. See, Mr. Jucha, I had to show everyone you aren’t perfect and are not a SADE. There is drama, bit-O-romance & flirting, action, mystery, intrigue, and tech, yes…cannot forget the fabulous tech.

I’m a 55yo male with kids, family, and friends and not easily entertained, I’m particular about what I watch or listen to (audiobooks), my time is my own as the kids are grown. When I was done with Earthers, I immediately turned around and started the whole series over and was almost as equally entertained the second time through. I noticed things I did not before and was able to look for moments before they fully evolved.

So now you know WHY I like this book and haven’t even read it yet. Thank you S.H. Jucha, Grover Gardner, and Susanna Burney.

I sincerely apologize to Nicole Poole for not originally including her name. I can’t imagine Pyreans read by anyone else. She was incredible. Thank you Ms. Poole.

I did read Talus but savored it’s content over four days instead of barreling through. So very well written Mr. Jucha. Definitely, a story that had to written and told, far beyond a housekeeping task. At this point in the series, all of us that follow your work, are invested heavily in the Universe and characters. Even though we think we might, or possibly do, see a particular direction a character, group, or event is headed…doesn’t matter. The path you take to get us to that conclusion…no, the path you take us AND the characters to get there is what makes your stories so memorable. I strongly felt the characters’ uneasiness of how they were going to achieve the monumental tasks before them in this book. I guess I thought/felt a more serious tone around happenings and potential outcomes in Talus. I’dunno, Mr. Jucha…you seemed to be invested heavily in this story as well. I am not explaing any of this well, apologies. I’m not very well written or thinking anymore. I look forward to reading Talus again upon my next complete running of your series. That would make for the 3rd round. I’ll wait awhile, maybe until you have completed your work. *shutters*

Paul, I appreciate the attempt to relay your thoughts and feelings. I like to imagine the scenes of the chapters, listening for what a character would say or ask. At those times, it feels like I’m standing on the bridge, sitting in the owners suite, or walking with Alex and company as they speak. Thanks for sharing!

I’m a huge fan of both series, and loved that they merged (although sad not to have had more of Harbour and the original Pyreans). When I discovered the Silver Ships series it was only up to book 6 and usually read each new installment in the series within days. However, when Earther was released I decided to restart the series first, this time in audio book (what better way to spend lock down). Grover Gardner and Nicole Poole were great. I switched back to reading for Sades onwards (not a fan of Susanna Burney as had become so accustomed the voices given to the character by GG). I have just finished Earth – yet another page turner. Was ecstactic to find out Talus had been released (though only Amazon US, fingers cross it will arrive on Amazon UK soon!!!).
Just wanted to say thank you and please keep going…

Another winner in the Silver Ships Series! I applaud the return to a more character and interplay plot than the extensive battle scenes against the Colony, just my preference. My only complaint, with all of your books….. you can’t write ‘em as fast as I can read ‘em. Still it gives me chance to reread my favorites, which I do so over and over again.
Many thanks, Scott, for the hours of pleasure, Keep ‘em coming.

It’s tough when you know SADEs like Julien, and you can’t recruit them to help you write the stories. 😉 Thanks for your support, Steve!

    Mr. Jucha,

I am a huge fan of both of your series, and I am always looking forward eagerly to the next book! Although with full honestly, I have to admit that Earthers was my least favorite installment so far; I guess I just didn’t feel like Earthers really moved the story forward in the way previous books had. I thought Earthers stoked some intrigue in the social dynamics of the multiple races involved in fighting the insectoids, but I found myself wanting to move past the repetitive Shadow hunting sorties and forward in the storyline.

That being said, I am almost done reading Talus now, and it has been everything that Earthers was not (at least for me). The imagination and creativity you have and the sheer scale of the world you have created just blow me away. Talus has brought back the forward-moving and exciting pace that I have loved in all your writing.

Thank you for your writing, and for bringing us into this world!

    Cheers,
    Jordan

      Mr. Jucha,

I have read every book in both series. My friend introduced me to your series and now I can’t

get enough of your books. I agree with Steve that you can’t write them as fast as I want to read them!!!! I start reading one and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Thank you so very much for entertaining us so well with your imagination.

    Hi Scott,

I love this universe you’ve shared with all of us, and any time someone is looking for something new to read, I recommend your series! I was talking with my brother (who is read up through Nua’ll at this point) and we are both blown away by the scale of the universe, and he hasn’t even met the Alliance races yet!

Something I would love to know about your writing process, if you don’t mind sharing. Do you have the course of the story mapped out, and if so does it detail all of the races and their interactions? I’d love to know if this universe sprung fully-formed onto the page, or if you’ve let the characters tell you about their adventures and you’re just sharing it with us and letting the story evolve as you go?

Thank you so much and keep writing! I jump on every book as soon as it’s available!

Thank you, Peter for your enthusiastic support and spreading the word about my novels. Before I finish one book, the general idea of the next one is always brewing. The where, when, and who are developed before the previous book is released. By the time I start writing the new book, I know much of the first third or quarter of a story. Most important, I know the key antagonists and their backstory. As I work on the early chapters, the nature of their society comes to fruition. That’s what populates the individuals within the story .. not all of them but most of them. Certain scenes, as I think of my chapters, require additional participants, and they give rise to bit players. I’m the type of individual who prefers to plan a job in great detail before I begin. However, with this creative process, I’ve never achieved that level of organization, which has always perturbed me. The plots and characters form under this organic process of preplanning and impromptu imagination. I’ve learned to trust that the story will unfold. My wife often laughs at me when I tell her that I’m stuck at some point in the story. She says, “Sleep on. They (meaning the characters) will whisper the next chapters to you in your dreams.” Strange thing is, it never fails to happen!

A THANK YOU to Peter for his post and questions from me as well. I wondered the same. I appreciate your detailed answer Mr. Jucha. Insight into how you create these most wondrous stories I covet and respect so highly…well, it invests me that much more.

Good book as always, and as always eagerly awaiting the next installment, speaking of…. do you have an estimate for the next book?

Only a “good” book, Judd? I must try harder! 😉 “Elvians,” the next book in the Silver Ships series, is in its first draft. It’s too early to give a definitive date, but I would estimate the release to be sometime in October.

Awesome on the draft, and yes, its a good book, it was nice to get back to see what the Federacy was up to. though I was kinda hoping what you would do was split it up between the plot with the Feds and the plot with the Vinium, I shall have to wait for the next book then.

Along the same lines as another reader asked, do you have an outline where you want the over all story to go? Or is it one book at a time?

Envisioning the future plot has always varied, Judd. The original story spanned the first three novels. The popularity of the novels encouraged me to continue. I saw “Haraken” and “Sol” as a pair. “Allora” was a bridge to get to “Celus-5”. The Pyreans was designed as a four-part series. When I started on “Earthers,” I saw the series end. It would take me four more novels, beginning with “Talus,” but they would conclude the story.

You could, Paul, but it wouldn’t make it any less true. I want to exit the Silver Ships series on a high note. I’ve loved writing the stories, and I don’t want them to get stale. That would be a great disservice to my readers. Besides, I have other stories I’m burning to write. Take care and be safe out there!

Hi, Scott. I’m sure you know I understand about a series having an end date in an author’s mind, just couldn’t help paying you an indirect compliment on how much the series has meant to me. In hindsight though, about five seconds after I posted that last reply, I wish I would have simply replied with:

            BLACK SPACE!!!

I wasn’t sure how you’d take to cursing in the blog, spaceman futuristic cursing or not. 🙂

Further, I can appreciate how you’ve already been leading us to the end of the series through the series itself. I’ve felt it approaching, as others have I assume.

I saw your naming of the next journey you’ll be taking us on, Gate Ghosts. I’ve often thought, since even the beginning of the series, that whatever you moved onto after Silver Ships/Pyreans, would also encompass your forward positive thinking and the rest of that most wonderful mind of yours that makes you the author you are. In other words, no matter “what” it was, it would be a joy and honor to read/listen to.

A very sincere heartfelt “thank you” for allowing your fans/readers to have a place to communicate with you.

Finally, I have no doubt that family and friends in your orbit are fortunate to have you in their lives, as you likely feel about them. Your true “nature” comes through in your writing.

Good words, good thoughts n good vibes out to you Scott Jucha.

Paul, it’s a wonderful honor to have readers/listeners, such as you, appreciate my novels. I try to write stories that I would want to read, and it’s always a pleasure to hear that others have found them enjoyable too. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words.

Ok… well as another of my favorite authors has stated, he had an overall idea about his series, 20 books plus a trilogy to cap off the ending, I can only hope that you will have something along the same lines.

On a side note, any idea when Earthers is getting an audio book? I just finished Sades and have listened to all.

Hello Judd, the audiobooks for “Earthers” and “Talus” should be available in September and October, respectively. The ending of the intertwined series of the Silver Ships and the Pyreans is already in progress. From the audiobook perspective, you’ll listen to “Earthers,” “Talus,” “Q-Gates,” and finally “Conclave” to end them. The series that I call Gate Ghosts begins in the summer of 2021.

    Scott,

I am confused by two of your blog posts. In one, you answered a question about the audio books stating: “From the audiobook perspective, you’ll listen to ‘Earthers’, ‘Talus,’Q -Gates,’and finally ‘Conclave’ to end them.” and in another blog post you state: “‘Elvians,’ the next book in the Silver Ships series, is in its first draft. It’s too early to give a definitive date, but I would estimate the release to be sometime in October.” My question is, what will the final ebooks be and will the audiobooks follow the ebooks?

My problem is that I discovered your books just after publication of the “Silver Ships” and, although it’s always worth the wait, I still get antsy.

    Thanks for the great series,

    Martin

Martin, the effects of the pandemic have played havoc with peoples’ lives and schedules, which have caused my audiobook releases to fall behind the ebooks. In the end, there will be an audiobook for each ebook. The “Earthers” audiobook should be released by mid-September. The “Elvians” ebook and the “Talus” audiobook are due out in early October. After that, the releases should be back to normal. Early next year I’ll release “Q-Gates” in ebook followed within a month or so by the audiobook. The final episode of the Silver Ships will be “Conclave,” which should be out in April.

Martin, much of this new sci-fi thriller is defined, but its too early to talk about. I don’t want to lock myself into any plots or characters by talking about them. As the writing date draws near, I’ll probably continue to adjust things.

ACX, the back end of Audible, has had the “Earthers” files since August 31st. I’m waiting for the ACX processing team to either approve and publish the audiobook or notify me of file errors.
