Author’s Wife Demonstrates Ease of Flying Model Silver Ship
— TSS News release —-
In collaboration with Melvin Industries, author S. H. Jucha commissioned the building of a model of a gravity-driven Silver Ship, otherwise known as a “dark traveler.” The above photo, shows the author’s wife demonstrating the ease with which the ship can be controlled.
Melvin Industries President, Dave Melvin was quoted as saying, “This is one of the most difficult contracts our company has ever worked on, but we were thrilled to be selected to build this first-of-a-kind drive system.” Asked when a full-scale model might be available, Mr. Melvin declined to comment saying, “It was too soon to tell.”
S. H. Jucha did admit that there were challenges to perfecting the tiny controller, but in the end the bugs were discovered and corrected. “I’m overjoyed with this proof of concept of a gravity-driven ship and can’t wait to see a full-sized shuttle, utilizing this design, in the future.”
This reporter can only say, “Watch out SpaceX! You may have competition!”
Disclaimer: This post, which is pure fiction, is meant to be a thank you to a group of very supportive readers of my novels, Dave Melvin, his wife Cindy, and his daughter Tiffany. Dave sent me the model on a whim, and I laughed saying that I had no individuals that small to fly it. Dave replied by sending me a remote controller, built with a “message in the bottle” so to speak. P.S. Dave, Peggy got a kick out of “flying” it.

I’ve been asked by several readers to post the Reddit Q&A session. So here you go!

Hello, science fiction fans. I’m S. H. Jucha, the author of the science fiction series, The Silver Ships. My first novel, The Silver Ships, was published in February 2015 and the second in the series, Libre, in July. Méridien, the conclusion to the trilogy will be available on November 1st.

I have the audio book for The Silver Ships. When will LIBRE be available? I’m really looking forward to it – I have a trip coming up.

There’s been a slight delay in the “Libre” audiobook, but it’s coming soon and the “Méridien” audiobook will follow shortly afterwards. Grover Gardner, who narrates the series, has had an impacted schedule lately so production has gotten behind. By the way, Grover, who narrated Stephen King’s “The Stand”, was nominated for a 2015 SOVAS award for his narration of “The Silver Ships”!
Join me for a Q&A on Reddit on Monday, October 26th.
This will be an opportunity for readers to ask questions about my science fiction series, your favorite characters, the future of the series, or anything else related to my novels!
Ask your questions, and I will endeavor to answer all of them. The session is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM ET, but I will post my AMA (Ask Me Anything) notice to start the Q&A session at 2 PM ET.
A login to Reddit is required to post your questions but it only takes a username and password to create an account on Reddit. I hope you will join me for the discussion.
SOVAS, the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, has released its nominations for the 2015 awards.
I’m pleased to announce that the narrator, Grover Gardner, of the audiobook version of The Silver Ships has been nominated in the category of “Audiobook Narration — Science Fiction, Best Voiceover.”
Grover has created an amazing career in theater and narration. It has been an honor to have him choose to narrate my series, The Silver Ships.
So what else would a science fiction author drive but an electric car … something that heralds the future?
I have to say one of the most fun things I enjoy driving my Fiat 500e electric car is the sound of the electric motors.
As the car accelerates or decelerates, the electric drive motors make these fantastic subtle winding or unwinding sounds. For those old enough to remember, it’s slightly reminiscent of the sounds of George Jetson’s air car. Now all I need it to do is fly!
Méridien, the end of The Silver Ships trilogy, is nearing completion. On Sept. 7th, I’ll deliver my manuscript into the hands of my indie editor and thereafter to my proofreaders.
The trilogy’s conclusion has taken longer to complete than The Silver Ships or Libre because it’s over a third longer than either of the them. I felt it was important to conclude subplots and speak to themes that had developed over the course of the trilogy. I hope my readers enjoy the extra pages.
In a later post, I will speak to the future for Alex and company. Apparently, the universe is not willing to let them rest for long.
The expected publishing date for Méridien is Nov. 1st.
If you’re in NYC in late May, you should check out BookExpo America, one of the nation’s largest book expositions.
The Combined Book Exhibits hosts BookExpo America in New York City during the dates of May 27th to may 29th.
My first novel, The Silver Ships, will be exhibited in the section entitled the New Title Showcase.
For the first five people who visit the BEA and send me a selfie holding my book, with the BEA display in the background, I will send you a signed high-quality 21″x 30″ poster of the The Silver Ships cover art. Send your photo to scott@scottjucha.com.
Watch my interview with U.S. Navy physicist Dr. Matthew Foster as we discuss nanotechnology in The Silver Ships.
Dr. Foster hosts a blog, Quarky Trons, that examines the use of hard science in today’s science fiction novels. He and I discuss the many uses of advanced technology that I incorporated into the Silver Ships. I hope you enjoy.
Podium Publishing has selected Audie award winner, Grover Gardner to narrate my first novel, The Silver Ships.
Grover Gardner is one of America’s most popular and versatile audiobook narrators, recording over 650 commercial audiobook titles. In 1999, “AudioFile” named Grover one of the Best Voices of the Century, and now includes him in their annual Golden Voices roundup of top narration talent. Winner of over 20 “AudioFile” Earphones Awards, he is also the recipient of an Audio Publishers Association Audie Award, as well as a three-time finalist. Publishers Weekly named him “Audiobook Narrator of the Year” for 2005.
Mr. Gardner has narrated such prestigious books as Stephen King’s, “The Stand”.
