“Haraken,” Fourth Book in the Silver Ships Series

Haraken Cover

The Haraken Cover

First of all, the fourth book in the Silver Ships series has a new title, Haraken.

Two reasons for the change: (1) the book is more about the people, the Harakens, than the system they inhabit, Hellébore, and (2) it’s easier to insert this title into some of the listing services, which have antiquated data systems and have difficulty handling accented letters.

I’m wrapping up the editing and proofreading processes this month and will publish the eBook on March 1st.

You can visit my website, scottjucha.com, to get a preview of the first two chapters and the book’s description after the 20th of this month.

You caught me! Despite my best intentions, a series of thoughts about Sol, the next book, hit me and I lost two days outlining some chapters. The preview will be up by the end of today, but in the meantime, look for a private email from me. Cheers.

James, you’ll have noticed that my blog post and the pre-order for “Haraken” crossed one another in the dark of space. When you submit a book to Amazon, it takes the company up to 24 hours to approve the book and a little while longer for the book’s associated information and their search engine to catch up. I appreciate the fact that you were watching for it. Many thanks!

Was not sure how to contact the author directly. Love the books. I do have an issue to report about translations using the Kindle Drone voice that distracts from the story.

A consideration/recommendation is to not use the “greater than” and “less than” signs in future books when it comes to the telepathy communication. Reason, the Kindle Drone voice actually translates these signs to the actual words. Example: “Less than at the beginning of the sentence and Greater than to end the sentence”. It really distracts from the story. I am sure I am not the only one to turn on the Kindle Drone voice late at night in bed to listen to the story. Also consider “Bluetooth” connections in our cars. Same problem. I recommend the author find a “sign” not translated literally by the Kindle Drone voice.

I was not sure you were aware of this and wanted to let you know. Perhaps a testing consideration before you release the next book.

Thanks much .. have really enjoyed this series

Hello Tim, you can always reach me via my “contact form” on my website, scottjucha.com. Thank you for your kind comment about my books. I’m pleased that you’re enjoying the stories, and thank you for mentioning the difficulty you had with Kindle’s drone voice application. I admit I’m not familiar with this program. I was made aware of the problem of the < and > marks, which indicate implant to implant communications by individuals, last year after the release of my second book, “Libre”, but they were referring, I believe, to a different text-to-audio converter.

However, as an alternative to the myriad text-to-audio converters on the market, I have spent considerable time and expense to produce audiobooks for this series so that people who prefer listening to books or have difficulty reading may enjoy my series. The audiobooks are delivered in two formats: downloadable MP3 and CDs.

Wonderful! A very, very engaging read! I could hardly put each book down, and Haraken was no different! It’s always disappointing to look at my kindle screen and see that I’m 90% or more of the way done, meaning the story will be on pause until the next book is ready. Thank you for a wonderful series! I eagerly look forward to your next installments.

Any chance we’ll get to see or read more of the immigrants and their interaction with Haraken society/technology? I’d love to read about their response to meeting the Swei Swee!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Thank you for your kind and generous comments, Steven. I’ve received a considerable number of requests to develop many of the characters introduced in the first three books. These requests have helped me realize what elements captured my readers’ interest. “Haraken” and “Sol”, the fourth and fifth books in the series, were developed to illuminate the world of the SADEs after being freed from their boxes. The sixth book in my series, “Celus-5” (you heard it hear first), will develop another often requested subject and one of my favorites.

“Sol” is in its first draft, at this time, but it’s going well. My target date for release of this fifth book in the series is probably July 1st.

    Hi
I am a new fan of your books! Silver ship 1 was recommended by my kindle. Read all 4 back to back. Can’t wait for 5. Wish I could retire to haraken now. Thanks for such wonderful entertaining read.

Really love these books. The audiobooks are great, Grover Gardner is the perfect fit for the novels. Any word on when Haraken will be recorded?

Thanks for the generous comments, Dan. Grover receives a great deal of compliments for his voice and style, and I consider myself fortunate to have him as the narrator of the Silver Ships series. The target date for the release of “Haraken” as an audiobook is July 12th.

Very good read, thanks for the hard work. Can’t wait for the next book. Are you going to release your first novel “The Lure” on kindle? The books sounds like a good read.

Hello Russell, the answer is yes. Now entitled “The Florentine”, the book will be built on the same premise, the theft of the incredible jewel, but it will be updated to a modern setting. My hope is that it will be successful enough to start a series, tentatively called “The Fixers”, which will be an international crime drama. But this novel will have to wait a bit. I have more books to write for the Silver Ships series and a second sci-fi series I would like to start in 2017 or 2018. Thanks for your kind comments and thanks for reading!

Hello Mr. Jucha, Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I’ve signed up to receive updates on Audiobook releases. I have a bad retina and can no longer read for pleasure. I’ve always been an avid reader and the SciFi/Fantasy genre is my favorite. I’m currently engrossed in your series The Silver Ships. Your world building is excellent. The character development in this series is wonderful. I’m one hour of listening away from finishing “Méridien”. Thus I’m wondering if you have any time estimates for the release of “Haraken”. My apologies if I seem pushy or rude. I’m sure you get thousands of requests for updates.
    Respectfully,

    Pat

Hello Patrick, the audiobook for Haraken will be released in CD version on July 19th, but Blackstone Audio, my distributor, often makes the MP3 download available about a week earlier. Thanks for listening!
